Banquet Captain

  1. Associates Degree or specialized training from a certified college or community college preferred.
  2. Must have the ability to read, write and speak English, follow written and verbal instructions and complete high school level computational skills.
  3. Must have a Serv Safe Certificate or obtain one in the first three months of employment.
  4. Previous wait staff experience.
  5. Knowledge of catering practices preferred.
  6. Ability to work quickly and as a team in a fast-paced environment

General Responsibilities

  1. Communicate with banquet supervisor as well as other servers and event organizers
  2. Follows Board of Health and department sanitation procedures and maintains a clean, sanitary working environment.
  3. Run food from the kitchen to the banquet hall on demand
  4. Assist with food and table prep before the event begins
  5. Set up buffets with food presentation standards and practices in mind, ensuring safe food handling performance
  6. Serve plated dinners to guests and respond to requests for beverages, appetizers and other needs
  7. Serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages
  8. Open wine and take drink orders, help close bar down
  9. Clean up venue after event ends and assist with inventory, food storage and other closeout task
  10. Attends all required in-services training and education sessions as assigned

    • Follows up as appropriate with supervisor, co-workers or residents regarding reported complaints, problems and concerns.
    • Promotes positive public relations with residents, family members and guests.
  5. Completes requirements for in-service training, acceptable attendance, uniform and dress code including personal hygiene, and other work duties as assigned
