Caregiver

  1. A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  2. Minimum of one year of child care experience or training in a related field.
  3. Child Development Associate Certificate preferred.
  4. Successful completion of first aid training and CPR certification within one year of hire date.

General Responsibilities

  1. Provides direct care to children ages 6 weeks to five years for their physical needs, which include:
    • Changing diapers and/or assisting with toileting
    • Playground and outdoor supervision
    • Feeding and/or assisting with meals
    • Supervising quiet time
  2. Interacts daily with young children, employees and parents to ensure a smooth information flow and to ensure children’s needs are met. Occasionally interacts with regulatory agency personnel.
  3. Assists lead teacher and other staff members with the discipline of the children in the center.
  4. Assists teacher in activity planning, organization and implementation.
  5. Shares curriculum ideas, classroom duties and resource materials with other staff.
  6. Maintains attendance and documents minor injuries, incidents and daily communications.
  7. Attends required workshops, staff meetings, in-services, center-related events and necessary conferences.
  8. Fulfills duties of the lead teacher when he/she is absent.
  9. Maintains sanitation standards according to posted procedures.
  10. Complies with policies and standards, licensing regulations and procedures, including Blood and Body Substance Precautions.
  11. Other duties as assigned.

  2. Is knowledgeable of the required state regulations regarding child care.
  3. Has a basic understanding of child-appropriate behaviors.
  4. Supports, cooperates with and implements procedures and programs for:
    • Safety, including universal precautions and safe work practices, established fire/safety/disaster plans, risk management, and security, report and/or correct unsafe working conditions, equipment repair and maintenance needs.
    • Confidentiality of all data.
    • Quality Assurance and compliance with all regulatory requirements.
    • Compliance with current law and policy to provide a work environment free from sexual harassment and all illegal and discriminatory behavior.
  5. Supports and participates in common teamwork
    • Cooperates and works together with all co-workers; plans and completes job duties with minimal supervisory direction, including appropriate judgment.
    • Uses tactful, appropriate communications in sensitive and emotional situations.
    • Promotes positive public relations with family members and guests.
  6. Completes requirements for in-service training, acceptable attendance, uniform and dress code including personal hygiene.
