Cook – Bistro

  1. Preferred High school diploma or equivalent; Diploma from a culinary school will be an advantage.
  2. Cook experience.
  3. Experience in using cutting tools, cookware and bakeware.
  4. Knowledge of various cooking procedures and methods (grilling, baking, boiling etc.)
  5. Good communication skills


General Responsibilities

  1. Operates and cleans equipment per department procedures after each use
  2. Follows Board of Health and department sanitation procedures and maintains a clean, sanitary working environment.
  3. Demonstrates knowledge of infection control and sanitation with food temperatures, hand washing, use of gloves and dating of food when required to handle food.
  4. Identifies and utilizes cleaning chemicals used, following directions recommended by manufactures and per MSDS sheets.
  5. Prepares entrees, vegetables, and specials according to standardized procedures
  6. Set up workstations with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment
  7. Prepare ingredients to use in cooking (chopping and peeling vegetables, cutting meat etc.)
  8. Check food ensure great presentation by dressing dishes before they are served
  9. Ensure all food and other items are stored properly and check quality of ingredients
  10. Monitor stock and let chef or director know when there are shortages or needed items

    • Follows up as appropriate with supervisor, co-workers or residents regarding reported complaints, problems and concerns.
    • Promotes positive public relations with residents, family members and guests.
  5. Completes requirements for in-service training, acceptable attendance, uniform and dress code including personal hygiene, and other work duties as assigned
