Security Officer

  1. Must have 3 years’ experience as a security guard, police officer or military police officer.
  2. Security Guard License required or will obtain within 90 days.
  3. High school diploma or GED required.
  4. Must be 21 years of age or older required.
  5. Qualified candidates must have a valid driver’s license.
  6. Must display exceptional customer service and communication skills.
  7. Intermediate computer skills and experience with security camera usage.

General Responsibilities

  1. Patrol on foot, golf cart, or security car the interior and exterior areas of assigned locations to ensure personal, building, and equipment are secure.
  2. Observe and report suspicious activities and persons.
  3. Write detailed narrative reports and maintain daily activity reports.
  4. Enforce rules, regulations, policies, procedures, and respond to emergency situations requiring security assistance.
  5. Must possess effective written and oral communication and interpersonal skills with ability to deal with all levels of personnel and the general public in a professional and effective manner.
  6. Must be able to use initiative and independent judgment within established guidelines.
  7. Must be able to frequently prepare written reports on the computer.
  8. Examines doors, windows, and gates to ensure security; uses client keys to open and close buildings; monitors closed buildings for unauthorized persons and/or suspicious activities.
  9. Watches for irregularities, such as security breaches, facility and safety hazards, and emergency situations; contacts emergency responders, such as police, fire, and/or ambulance personnel, and the CEO as required.
  10. Responsible for assisting with development and implementation of physical security and safety programs.

    • Compliance with current law and policy to provide a work environment free from sexual harassment and all illegal and discriminatory behavior.
  4. Supports and participates in common teamwork
    • Cooperates and works together with all co-workers; plan and complete job duties with minimal supervisory direction, including appropriate judgment.
    • Uses tactful, appropriate communications in sensitive and emotional situations.
    • Follows up as appropriate with supervisor, co-workers or residents regarding reported complaints, problems and concerns.
    • Promotes positive public relations with residents, family members and guests.
  5. Completes requirements for in-service training, acceptable attendance, uniform and dress code including personal hygiene, and other work duties as assigned
